Dr. Xiaoming Song (Professor)

Research interests are plant genomics and bioinformatics. In June 2015, he graduated from the College of Horticulture of Nanjing Agricultural University with a PhD degree. July 2015 - now, he worked in School of Life Science of North China University of Science and Technology. In 2019-2020, he visited the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States sponsored by the National Scholarship Council. From 2019 to 2022, he conducted postdoctoral research at UESTC. He has published more than 80 academic papers, including 76 SCI papers. As the first author or corresponding author, he has published 37 SCI papers in famous international journals such as Plant Biotechnology Journal and Plant Physiology, including 16 top papers in the first region of Chinese Academy of Sciences and 10 papers in the second region of SCI. Associate Editor of Vegetable Research and Forestry Research journals. Editorial Board member of SCI Journal Frontiers in Genetics, Life and International Journal of Molecular Sciences. He has presided over more than 10 projects, such as the Hebei Natural Outstanding Youth Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the post-doctoral Special Fund of China. He was awarded the honorary titles of Distinguished Young Scholar of Hebei Province, Yanzhao Talents of Hebei Province, Young Top-notch Talents of the Department of Education, Phoenix Young Talents of Tangshan City, Phoenix Talents of Tangshan City and Outstanding Talents of Phoenix Scholars Program of North China University of Science and Technology (Class A).

        The research fields of our group are focus on plant genome, bioinformatics analysis, and biological database construction based on the high-throughput sequencing data. We are mainly engaged in De novo genome, comparative genomics, and functional genomics studies. Specifically, the research in our laboratory mainly includes the following aspects: 
       The research interests of our group include plant genomics, bioinformatics, omics database building and molecular biology. The research interests main include comparative genomics and functional genomics. Laboratory research mainly includes the following aspects:
1. Genome de novo and pangenomics studies
2. Genome evolution and comparative genomics analysis
3. Origin and evolution of important genes and gene families
4. Gene expression analysis and regulation network construction
5. Omics database construction on the basis of genomic and bioinformation analysis data
6. Genome-wide association studies on important agronomic traits (GWAS)
7. Function verification of important genes (transgenic, gene editing, etc.)

He presided over 10 scientific research projects. Four national projects: 1 project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 project of the National Natural Science Foundation of Youth Foundation of China, 1 special project of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and 1 project of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Three provincial and ministerial projects: 1 Hebei Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Fund project; Hebei Natural Science Foundation project and youth project 1 each.         More than 80 research papers were published, including 76 SCI papers, with cumulative impact factor >300, total citations more than 2000 times, h-index10=40, h-index=27. He has published 37 SCI papers as the first author or corresponding author in internationally renowned journals such as Plant Biotechnology Journal, Plant Physiology, Plant Journal and Horticulture Research.
        Among the first author or corresponding author papers, 16 top journals of the first region of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, including Plant Biotechnology Journal (3 papers), Plant Physiology Journal (2 papers), and Plant Journal (1 paper), Horticulture Research (7 papers), and Horticultural Plant Journal (2) and Journal of Integrative Agriculture (1).
